Port of Stade
The industrial port of Stade is located directly on the maritime waterway Elbe between Hamburg and the mouth of the river Elbe at Cuxhaven. A good land-side infrastructure makes the Elbe-Weser region accessible. Stade provides facilities for the transshipment of bulk and general cargo on paved and flood-proof transshipment and storage areas on the fairway which is sufficiently deep for ocean vessels and independent of the tide.
The seaport of Stade is regarded as an efficient location within the association of the Seaports of Niedersachsen due to a great variety of companies providing port services and transportation services such as clearance, mooring services, transshipment and stowage of bulk and general cargo, towage services as well as port transfers and transportation of dangerous goods. The port’s particular potential with regard to development is in the area of general cargo transshipment via the modern break bulk terminal.
The northern section of the pier in the port Stade-Bützfleth is used for the unloading of bauxite and for the loading of aluminium oxide and damp aluminium hydroxide. In the inner port, vessels with a load carrying capacity of up to 5000 t. (larger vessel units on request) can be loaded by means of a covered conveyor belt system from the storage houses directly into the vessel.
The export of chemicals produced in Stade such as hydrogen and sodium hydroxide also contribute significantly to the volume of cargo transshipped.
